As mentioned earlier, the root chakra represents the physical will of being, and where there are blockages in the root chakra, there’s stagnation in moving forward in life.

​THE 3 UNKNOWN IMBALANCES

​1.) » YOUR LACK OF MOTIVATION

The way that you speak to yourself by using negative affirmations is saying that you haven’t fostered the motivation that it takes to overcome circumstances. Speaking down to yourself can bring about imbalances in the body, such as depression, furthering a defeatist attitude. An on-going speech of negativity can block your root chakra, and in turn, keeps you at a lowly state of awareness with the inability to empower yourself.

It may be hard to promote positive affirmations, and this is okay. Do not be too hard on yourself because there are other simple ways to bring about a flow of motivation for you to release root chakra imbalances. Can you guess what that is? Listening to music can be a tool for focus, motivation, and inspiration. Listen to the lyrics as if it’s your first time hearing them, remembering that words have force and power.

2.) » ​FEELING EMOTIONALLY DRAINED

In the state of feeling emotionally drained is when you have lost the footing for a purposeful life. The journeys taken have no relevance to you because of the hardships.  In reality, we naturally gravitate to the root of the problem, and in this case, you could have blockages in your root chakra due to an imbalanced state of emotional drainage from loss, worry, and or defeat.

Disconnect from the emotions that no longer make sense to you and are blocking your divine destiny. Whatever causes you to feel worn-out emotionally- work, relationships, etc., start a journal about it. If you don’t like to write, talk about it. Write about it, talk to someone that you trust, or both, so that you can begin removing the obstacles that keep you feeling emotionally drained. Journaling is a process in writing where you can let your feelings go and release them without judgment.

3.) » ​​YOU ARE HOPELESS


The inability to will and drive forwardness into your life can lead to a state of hopelessness. The root chakra deals strictly with the physical will of being, and it’s something that you should never ignore. Get rid of self-destructive habits, and start helping yourself. 

You have to begin making yourself accountable for your circumstances, and it’s called building self-development. Self-development is where a person can acknowledge their life lessons and then positively apply those teachings. Most of our problems stem from the past and sometimes with unsurmountable imbalances still thriving in you today, also known as root chakra blockages.

THE COLD OR FLU? | A HOLISTIC HEALTH VIEW

The Cold or Flu, a Holistic Health View, is a quick and easy guide to interpret the difference between the  imbalances of the immune system due to the cold or flu. You can find additional preventive tips here💡

THE COMMON COLD


The common cold, also known simply as a cold, is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract that primarily affects the nose. The throat, sinuses, and larynx may also be affected. Colds can last between one to ten days, while the flu can last longer, twelve days or more, followed by a week or so of weakness and a residual cough.

Cold Signs and Symptoms:
  • a stuffed or runny nose
  • sneezing
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • low-grade fever
  • general ill feeling
  • mild body aches or headache

THE FLU
​

The medical terminology for the word flu is Influenza. Influenza is a highly contagious viral infection of the upper respiratory tract. There are three forms, Type A, Type B, and Type C, both causing acute infection to the throat, nose, bronchial tubes, lungs, and middle ear. ​

​Flu Signs and Symptoms:
  • Fever that comes on suddenly 
  • Chills and sweats
  • Headache
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Fatigue
  • Dry cough
  • Sore throat
  • Sneezing, runny nose, stuffy nose
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, especially in children
  • Weakness and confusion, especially among the elderly



There are more than 200 individual strains of viruses that can cause the cold or flu, and these strains are constantly changing, so the vaccinations against these viruses are always changing as well, which leads to minimal effectiveness for the prevention of outbreaks. More Preventive tips💡


Vaccines are available each year for influenza to reduce the likelihood of its spreading. If the strain targeted is the one that hits during the winter season, the vaccination is effective. The cold/flu is unpredictable and can affect anyone at any age.

​Researchers link the cold and flu to psychological stress. Therefore, the best way to fight a cold or flu is to take it on by strengthening the immune system. The thymus and adrenal glands are the elite functions of the immune system. When the body is sick, it means that the system is under stress, and stress depletes the immune system.

One of the defenses against a virus is a fever. If an adult has a fever, do not suppress it unless it is over 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Be aware if you’re taking Tylenol and drinking alcohol for it will lead to liver damage.


Both Naturopaths and Herbalists advise against taking Aspirin to reduce the fever of the cold and flu symptoms.

​Aspirin will attach directly to mucous membranes and can act as an irritant. Researchers believe that the combination of Aspirin and viral illness is linked to several ailments, like Reye’s Syndrome.

IMMUNITY BOOSTERS



​The immune system ​is our body’s natural defense system. It’s an intricate network of cells, tissues, and organs that band together to defend our body against invaders. Those invaders can include bacteria, viruses, parasites, even a fungus, all with the potential to make us sick. 

Our immune system has to work hard all through the year, whether it’s offering protection from a flu virus or an infection that could happen at any time. Therefore, I like to ensure that I consume the foods and supplements that will  revitalize my body systems and become less susceptible to harmful compounds. All three items listed here to boost immunity health, plus some other tips, can increase our wellness habits in holistic health.

​1. Green Tea

Green Tea has numerous health benefits, from reducing inflammation to protecting a healthy heart and brain function, to supporting immunity, and  improving metabolism while regulating blood sugar. Green tea is an immune booster, but to receive the full antioxidant benefits, it is suggested to not drink it with milk. Milk may bind with the beneficial compounds, isolating the properties away from the body. *Green Tea contains a small amount of caffeine, and should not be used in large quantities for women who are pregnant/breastfeeding, persons with anxiety disorders, or irregular heartbeat but may consume up to 2 cups/day.

​2. Spirulina

Spirulina is an immune booster and produces twenty times as much protein as soybeans growing on an equal-sized area of land. Spirulina has been clinically tested and has shown a variety of effects. Those with the common cold experienced less cold symptoms, others showed lowered cholesterol levels and blood pressure.

​3. Vitamin C

Vitamin C protects against infection and enhances immunity. Vitamin C works synergistically with vitamin E and beta-carotene. There is a list of herbs that obtain Vitamin C, such as Alfalfa, cayenne, burdock root, nettle, raspberry, and so on. (and of course, Vitamin C is found in a host of fruit as well) *If you are pregnant, do not take more than 5,000 milligrams of vitamin C daily.
