This tool may be new for you in your recovery or can act as a “refresher” for you right now. Either way, learning how to speak up for yourself, when you get the hang of it, feels good to the soul! |

Solutions- Things not working for you? Do something about it. Someone speaking to you in an unkind way? Refuse to accept it. These are the kinds of skills that are incredibly difficult to do but are surprisingly simple to learn. |

Self-Advocacy
As time went on, I cut ties with the people who were detrimental to me. It was easy, in some respects due to the distance and space away, and for a while, I felt like a coward because I didn’t confront the issues directly.
It felt like I was running away from my problems. But I was wrong. Taking control and regaining happiness can be understood verbally and non-verbally depending on the situation. The important factor here is to take action! Without being aware of my actions, I was practicing self-advocacy by removing myself out of the reach of the people & places that triggered me. Declare

Are there people who you know that aren’t good for you in your life? Is there anyone who doesn’t support you in becoming the best version of yourself? If so, find those who honor your dreams instead. Often, bullies can be in your own family. You don’t have to cut these ties completely out of your life. An effective way is to educate yourself on techniques & strategies to deal with those people. Situations that magnitude fear should be dealt professionally, of course. *--->Therapeutic Self-Care |
