Remember how the old saying goes, “Once we know better, we do better"? Well, perhaps next time that someone suggests for you to, "buy organic", hopefully, your reaction would be one of compromising awareness.  Yeah, we know all of the excuses by now as to why we won’t purchase natural foods, or circumstances like it’s expensive, hard to find or possibly out of reach from the tools to educate ourselves with.

We comprehensively sourced information for our readers, not to subject them to fear tactics, but just the opposite of that, which is to consider this as essential information for our sustainability in general health.

What are Natural, Organic Foods?

Picture
USDA Organic foods do not consist of added trans-fat, artificial colors, dyes, artificial flavoring, artificial growth hormones and antibiotics, vegetable oils, chemical fertilizers, chemical food additives, genetically modified organisms, high-fructose corn syrup, preservatives like sodium nitrate and sodium nitrates or toxic persistent pesticides. The difference between organic and conventional produce is the number of pesticides that are used to defend against insects while the plant is in the growing stage. While packaged foods are popular today, Dr. LLaila O. Afrika states that “contemporary junk food and fast food diet is based upon denatured, highly refined, processed, genetically altered and synthetically chemicalized, non-foods.”  It has zero nutritional value.

How to shop for Natural, Organic Foods

  • Look at the label code: 9**** is organic, 8**** is genetically modified, 4**** and 3**** are conventional and was grown with approved pesticides
  • Buy local at coops, natural food stores, and farmer’s market
  • Shop for what is in season-more likely to be on sale
  • Do not purchase wilted, rotten fruits and vegetables
  • Shop for fruits and vegetables often, once or twice a week to maintain good quality
  • Look for the Natural or Organic food labeling at non-health food stores with the print, Certified by the USDA

Our Health Depends on Natural, Organic Foods

The more foods we consume, the more important it is to buy ones that are organically grown. This is because many commercially grown foods are sprayed with pesticides that contribute to cancer rates, while if you buy organic or grow your own produce, you don’t have to worry about these risks. Today the new chemical onslaught in the farming industry is systemic pesticides.

Self-Care Tips

Pest-icides

Systemic pesticides are chemicals that are actually absorbed by a plant when applied to seeds, soil, or leaves. The chemicals then circulate through the plant's tissues, killing the insects that feed on them. Some pesticides are dangerous to human health.

Pesticides were introduced into the American food supply in 1994 with Monsanto’s “Flavor Savr” tomato. Over a period of time, pesticides can contaminate the body with toxins, free radicals, and waste products that stress the filtering systems of the body and reduce the body’s ability to fight dis-eases

Dr. Akua’s “The Most Contaminated Fruits and Vegetables Chart”

Vegetables
1. Celery
2. Spinach
3. Potatoes
4. Sweet red bell pepper
5. Lettuce
6. Carrots
7. Green beans
8. Hot peppers
9. Cucumbers

 Fruits
  1. Peach
  2. Strawberry
  3. Apple
  4. Nectarine
  5. Pears
  6. Cherries
  7. Raspberries
  8. Imported Grapes
  9. Tomatoes

Not only are pesticides an issue, but a great concern for genetically modified foods (GMO as well. In the U.S and Canada, industrialists are not required to label genetically modified foods. This can be confusing to the public with the assumption that we’re consuming foods that are safe to eat, otherwise, we would be warned somehow right?

Did You Know?

“When the effects of chemicals appear, they are miss-diagnosed as flu, infection, V.D, heart attack, aids, allergies, headaches, tension, stress, depression, fatigue, tingling toes or fingers, food allergies, eczema, constipation, etc.” as stated by Dr. Llaila O. Afrika.

We may be…..

1) using refined white sugar that has been, excoriated, demineralized, and devitalized (almost everything contains a form of sugar today)
2) we don’t get the purest, most natural foods anymore, because manufacturers add dyes, acids, moisturizers, artificial flavors, texturizes, preservatives, synthetic chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, steroids, and terminator codes (block nutrient absorption)

Dr. Akua’s “Top Ten Genetically Modified Foods”

1.Corn
2.Soy
3.Cotton
4.Papaya
5.Rice
6.Tomatoes
7.Rapeseed
8.Dairy products
9.Potatoes
10.Peas

The commercial fast foods that aren’t naturally processed is genetically altered and highly toxic. There are no commercial foods safe to eat. These toxins and synthetic chemicals destroy and deteriorate the human body and are addicting.

Foods can be our medicine, but not unless they are natural foods.  You can change your food choices, but you can only change it for the better by creating new habits and teaching yourself to use natural foods. If you had an organic pomegranate in one hand and a pickle in the other to eat, you have to decide which one is best: natural or processed? You know your body needs good food.

➠ Let’s Begin with the Affirmation for Week 36 !

♡“I Have a Right to Talk About What Happened to Me”

I understand now that what had occurred in the past was not ok, and if I’d talked about it then, it would be causing even more pain.  As a sexual abuse survivor, I could’ve been manipulated, threatened, or coerced by the abuser(s) who did it.

Today, I’m aware that I have the right to talk about what happened to me.  I should’ve been protected from sexual abuse initially.  A child shouldn’t have to lose trust in adults who lack parental authority. I Have A Right to Talk About What Happened to Me!

ILLNESSES from LONG-TERM TRAUMA  |the HOLISTIC HEALTH VIEW

We all know too well that
traumatic events happen to us, neighbors, friends, relatives, and so on. It feels distressing, intolerable, and if left untreated, trauma can sustain negative lifestyle attachments and poor coping skills. A traumatic episode can take a tremendous amount of energy to pay attention to by your conscious-mind, leaving you feeling tired or drained.  This could be the reason why a lot of trauma victims gluttonize in alcohol, food, sex, drugs, and all forms of subjective pain because trauma complicates the brain area that communicates the physical embodiment of being alive.

Being traumatized means to perpetually organize your life as if it were still going on unchanged today. Every new encounter is challenged from the past based on adverse experiences. It could be with a new relationship or new goal that will be measured by earlier and unforeseen traumatic circumstances. Unrecognized and  displaced stress can internalize, harming your body's systems.

Today, modern sciences have discovered the key to healing long-term trauma is to understand how the human body works. The development of three sciences has led to more insight into the effects of traumatic events, neglect, and abuse in a biological field of study below.

THE 3 BRANCHES OF MODERN FIELD STUDIES: Long-Term Trauma

1) Neuroscience- the study of how the brain supports the mental process.
2) Developmental psychopathology- the study of the impact of adverse experiences on the development of mind and brain.
3) Interpersonal Neural Biology-  the study of how our behaviors influence the emotions and mindset of those around us.

Learn More
Research from these fields of study have proven  how trauma brings about physiological changes. Including the recalibration of the brain’s alarm system, increase in stress hormone activity, and an alteration of the system that filters relevant information from irrelevant.

Picture

Suppressing trauma does not stop stress hormones from exhausting the body.  Inhibiting emotions can delay physical senses, increasing your stress hormones and experiencing the traumatic event over again biologically.

Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found that the more stressors that an individual have experienced in their childhood are more likely to develop physical and emotional illnesses in their adulthood.

Traumatic experiences like sexual abuse, mental illness in a parent, divorce, neglect, and domestic violence are linked to chronic related stress and obstacles. Chronic related stress is the form of obesity and/or heart disease are responsible for premature death that becomes a physical reality sooner or later.

Picture

Medically identified as Adverse Childhood Experiences- chronic stress from the effects of long-term trauma. ACES does have a lasting outcome on your health: diabetes, depression, STD’s, heart disease, cancer, stroke, COPD, suicide attempts, broken bones, and obesity are the physical ailments that will appear.

In the physical life sector, ACES have an enduring effect regarding graduation rates, personal growth, self-education, academic achievements, goal orientations, or lost time from work.

ACES aren’t limited to poor neighborhoods- all children of any socioeconomic classes suffer adverse events. What it comes down to is how you  respond to traumatic stress factors.

  •   dealing with it on a day-to-day
  •  able to recognize and have healthy habits around their stress response, as opposed to having unhealthy coping habits.

Picture

The Greatest Stress Factors Includes:

>The Cumulative of Adversity
>Your Potential Exposure, and How They Pile-Up
>The Absence of The Caregiver Who Is Able To Buffer The Effect of That Chronic Stress

Picture

--->Dr. Burke Harris, an American pediatrician who is the 1st and current Surgeon General of California a since 2019, founded and runs the Center for Youth Wellness in San Francisco, CA has dedicated years to treating chronic stress and raising awareness about the link between traumatic life events and our health. She believes that childhood trauma does not have to compromise our adulthood in an unhealthy manner. With the right resources and education, understanding childhood adverse reactions as a risk factor for how we’re going to deal with stress is critical.

Picture

The bodies of abused victims are tensed and defensive until they can find a way to relax and feel safe. The physical sensations beneath the emotions include pressure, heat, muscular tension, tingling, caving-in, and feeling hollow. A tremendous number of people in our country are beginning to recognize that trauma lives in the body. There is a lot of prevention that can educate when people just have this information.
