blockages (plural noun)
  • an obstruction which makes movement or flow difficult or impossible.

You might not know this yet guys, but even the most self-assured, confident, and successful individuals have had to learn how to grow from their past and move about unproudly within them. At some point, they were determined to heal and restore the blockages that were interfering with seeing into their personal growth. In turn, their likelihood of joyous expectations from the fulfilling relationships around them will be forever sustainable due to their course of action. 

Hello everyone, and welcome to Reality in Balance.  My name is ShawNee Janelle. I am a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner/Consultant. At Reality in Balance, our area of focus is emotional intelligence and therapeutic self-care, because we want to see you function in life with the highest regard for yourself. In this blog-podcast, we’ll talk about why it may be difficult for you to ask for help and ways to gain a better perspective on the vulnerable possibilities that can help you remove internal blockages.

Why Do I Need to be
Vulnerable with Other People?

You and I grow and live together here as a collective on so many levels in life. Connecting with people that are dear to us is an exchange of love which allows you and I to feel alive every day, and to know that someone else cares about us can make life a bit easier.
​


You need to be vulnerable in your relationships to feel a sense of safety, and to be honest, to feel loved. This can be on a spousal level, in a friendship, or with family. Well-seeded connections implement a sense of security for welcomed spaces such as advice and support. With their kindness it can be more comfortable for you to achieve life goals through your personal growth and development. ​

​So, do you know which areas that insert insecurities, like trust issues inside of your relationships? In this blog-podcast, we can discover the best solutions for you to begin removing blockages and experience a balanced lifestyle through personal growth and development.

Fear of Being a Burden/BLOCKAGE
​

Do you worry that when you decide to ask a person to help you, the task will be seen as a heavy load?  Unfortunately, this can mean that there are internalized thoughts that you are not worthy of help. A learned behavior such as this is to deflect your problem and assume asking will only burden the person. This is only true if you’re choosing the wrong type of person to ask for help in the first place.  
I want to express to you guys that most individuals who are secure in their lives emotionally, financially, mentally, etc., love to help other people. So, know that you are not a burden to those who are able to support you. With the proper education, you can unlearn unbalanced behaviors that lead to internal and external life blockages.

It’s important to know that feeling like a burden is a false sense in a mindset that is unbalanced. ​According to clinical psychologist Dr. Hendriksen at Boston University’s Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders, the most primitive part of the brain, the same reward pathway activated by food and sex- lights up in response to altruistic giving. Meaning, just like when you're enjoying your favorite foods or experiencing a sense of pleasure, these same feel-good hormones are activated in a person when they are able to help you.

If you believe that this is not the case for you, and the helper is over-burdened in their personal lives or are too busy, then please, save your time and energy of asking them for any favors, and find someone else who can help you. You will soon discover for yourself that helping other people brings strength to your immediate social ties, but it also allows the helpers to feel good about themselves too. So, try to remember that those who are stable in their lives love to give back and willingly want to guide others to do their best in life, just like you. 


Past Mistakes/BLOCKAGE
​

Depending on your awareness of the things that are occurring and meaningful to you in opposite effects, like feeling happy-sad or good-bad, can seem general in life's cycle that is always pointing out its high and low points in retrospect. Due to life’s fluctuations, they'll be lessons for you to observe and take action on. In the recurrence time frame, whether it be months, years, days, and so on, are all opportunities for your personal growth and development.

But. When more than enough negative experiences are piled-up and cause friction, it’s common to develop a fear of admitting to these mistakes. It may be stressful to address concerns in your personal growth and the things that can help you move forward. A change in social status, economical plans, or issues within personal relationships cannot be done alone, and why would you want to? Sometimes control isn’t always the best approach, and things can quickly go wrong. Think of it like this- you cannot stop a wave out in the ocean, but you can surf it. And it's always better to do it with someone else anyway.

  • See your immediate problem as an object that is separate from you and then transform it.
  • Visualize yourself teaming-up with another person to tackle the object- This is called a unified detachment where the problem is no longer “me” or “I”, but a defiant “it” instead.
  • See the problem on a chair, being zapped with armor, or anyplace outside of you adjoined with someone else that is helping.

Fear of "Appearing Weak"/BLOCKAGE
​

Also known as the “needy appearance” or feeling incompetent, a fear of appearing weak around others instead of receiving their help is another internal/external blockage in your personal growth. Remind yourself that the ability to have someone to ask for assistance means that you are being supported and connected. 
​
To confront your fear of appearing less valuable, try to match your request with someone considered an expert. Say, for instance, if you were having car troubles, you’d more than likely seek out a professional mechanic for their help instead of a person without car mechanical skills, or if you're experiencing financial difficulties, you’d be more inclined to speak with an individual who is balanced with their finances and not the other way around. This is why there are experts and professionals here to help you with your specific needs.

​The keywords are professional and expert because your chances are, simply put, better with persons’ that are reliable and willing to provide specific information for you. Another method to consider is to ask for help as if you’re inquiring about expert opinions or instructions. In this way, you don't sound like you're begging for what you need. For instance,
  • change the tone of your language when asking a question.
  • Ask your helper if you could pick their brain for a minute, instead of randomly blurting out things.
  • Ask if you could get their perspective on something important to you is a good segway to this type of conversation.
  • It’s okay to mention that it’s been a long time since you’ve done something like this before, and be extremely specific and define what areas that you need their help in.​

A CLEAR PATH

Make a list. The act of writing lists prompts you to tune in to what’s really needed versus the things that you just want, enforcing your true intent. ☤Your Reality In Balance begins at the very moment as will is placed forth by your intent to grow and change for the betterment of self, aiding in the improvement of mankind!
