Remember how the old saying goes, that once we know better, we can do better for ourselves? Well, hopefully, the next time that someone kindly suggests that you buy natural, organic foods, you’ll have the essential tools given here to understand why that might be.
Natural, whole, or organic food's connection to health and wellness can be easy for us to relate. As with all organic foods, none are grown or handled using genetically modified organisms, which are prohibited in USDA organic standards. GMO is the engineering of a microorganism to synthesize its properties, altering its natural process and sustainability- otherwise, grown in lab space.
USDA Organic foods do not consist of added trans-fat, artificial colors, dyes, artificial flavoring and growth hormones, antibiotics, vegetable oils, chemical fertilizers, chemical food additives, genetically modified organisms, high-fructose corn syrup, preservatives like sodium nitrate and sodium nitrates, or toxic pesticides.
While packaged foods are popular today, Dr. LLaila O. Afrika states that “contemporary junk food and fast food diet is based upon denatured, highly refined, processed, genetically altered and synthetically chemicalized, non-foods.” It has zero nutritional value.
